The GBS Intermediate Billing Associate researches and resolves a variety of customer billing concerns. He/She is certified to resolve discrepancies on shipper invoices, research billing issues, make necessary billing adjustments, educate customers on offered billing services, and initiate cross-functional and external contacts to resolve billing problems. He/She has access to account information through CRIS, Accounts Receivable and OnDemand, and can also process adjustments through the use of the Global Adjustment System.
Responsibilities and Duties
Communicates clearly with diverse customer base
Employs effective customer service techniques to create a positive customer experience (conflict resolution, voice skills, etc.)
Captures key issues through effective questioning and listening skills
Researches billing issues, evaluates options, and utilizes problem-solving skills to find best solutions
Follows precise business rules governing billing systems
Makes logical decisions when precise business rules are not available (i.e., “gray” areas)
Determines billing needs, and when to forward complex issues to the Billing Resolution Group, Collector Location, or other function
Calculates manual billing adjustments using basic mathematical skills, as needed
Knowledge and Skills
Proficient in ACCTREC, eTT, GA, OnDemand, ECM, Web-SIR, CRIS, or willing to become proficient
Well versed in UPS service offerings, business rules, and company procedures that affect customer's UPS invoice
Strong working knowledge of ISPS, and Microsoft Excel and Access - Preferred
Accounting background - Preferred
