Who You Are...

As a Designer-Drafter I at LB Foster, you are responsible for structural and mechanical design and drafting of precast concrete products using CAD software. 

This Position...

Is an integral part of our design and drafting team, and you must have a knowledge of general building construction, precast concrete, as well as plumbing and electrical systems.

Some examples of the work you might do includes...

• Produce precast concrete building design and detailing using AutoCAD. 


• Create submittal packages, proposal drawings and production drawing sets


• Provide continual improvement suggestions as part of a collaborative team


• Other duties as assigned.

What Do You Need...

• High School Diploma or Equivalent


• Degree in Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, or similar degree is a plus


• Drafting Certification or 1 to 2 years’ drafting experience in a manufacturing or construction industry


• AutoCAD 2D will be used daily. (knowledge of Revit and Inventor is helpful)


• Excellent understanding of drafting standards & principles


• Proficient with Microsoft Excel (formulas, hyperlinks, sorting and searching data).


• Must be a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision


• Working knowledge of mathematical concepts (calculate volumes, simple load calculations, metric equivalents, drawing scales)


• Must be detail oriented


• Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment


• Ability to work independently


• Knowledge of precast concrete design a plus


• Desire to continue to grow and develop
