Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Sales Training Manager is responsible for the full continuum of training for Precision Oncology Urology Field Sales; including new hire and ongoing continuing education programs. These training programs will be dynamic by specific training needs; including product-specific training, disease-state training, and other professional development programs to benefit newly hired and expert Regional Urogenomic Liaisons (RULs).

 

This position requires one-on-one teamwork with field trainers and regional work with RULs; including partnership with the training team, Regional Managers (RMs), Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Marketing, and Medical Affairs.

 

This position is remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Develop and implement the initial sales training program for newly hired sales professionals; including communicating and coordinating the training programs both in Redwood City and at the regional level, creation of pre-work materials, development of program agenda, and management of the training program.
  • Update and refine materials while conducting ongoing assessment needs of the Urology Field Sales organization.

  • Partner with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Sales Leadership to develop interactive and impactful workshops at national, area, and regional sales meetings.

  • Develop and lead continuing education initiatives for the Urology sales force to result in the best trained, most knowledgeable, and professional sales organization.

  • Perform train-the-trainer sessions for field trainers and RMs for specific learning initiatives.

  • Assess the effectiveness of the learning programs to ensure internal customer needs are met.

  • Coach and train RULs in the field on a one-on-one and group/classroom setting basis.

  • Work with sales professionals throughout the U.S. to assist in account development and implementation of key tactics within geographical territories.

  • Develop individualized training programs to assist in specific skill development as identified by the Sales Leadership team.

  • Support the Commercial Learning team in the selection of vendors for the development and delivery of training materials.

  • Provide input and development to web-based learning tools.

  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to organize training initiatives, while also demonstrating its capabilities to identify learning gaps and/or improvements in the learning process.

  • Strong written and oral communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Self-starter and results oriented.

  • Strong project management skills to aid in the organization, planning, implementation, and execution of learning initiatives.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.

  • Work nights and/or weekends as needed.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 75% of a typical working day.

  • Ability to travel 25% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience.

  • Proven track record of successful urology sales experience representing leadership in your region.

  • Proficient working knowledge of adult learning principles with a demonstrated ability to apply those principles in a medical environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to distill high-level scientific information into easily understood concepts for an audience with diverse educational backgrounds and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with other groups and key partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple priorities based on changing business needs.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications


  • 2+ years of sales training experience.

  • Proficient working knowledge of molecular diagnostics and urology/oncology.

  • Demonstrated ability to launch a pharmaceutical/biotechnology product.

  • Sales leadership experience.

  • Strong urologic oncology Key Opinion Leader (KOL) relationships.
