The primary responsibility is to design, develop, test, apply and release to production, axle and suspension products for trailer systems, inclusive of plant and customer support. This person will interface with customers, suppliers, test labs, production manufacturing facilities, and several internal cross-functional engineering groups (procurement, program management, brakes, vehicle dynamics, analytical mechanics, experimental mechanics, materials, etc.)
Job Responsibilities:
• Perform engineering analysis necessary for the product design, application and testing of axle/suspension components and systems. This will include the use of CAD (Creo Parametric) and FEA (Creo Simulate and/or Ansys Workbench);

• Manage all aspects of engineering products according to customer requirements with focus on coordinating project timing, costs, test plans and prototype builds.

• Work with designers to release detailed drawing packages.

• Establish good working relationships with team members, outside suppliers, customers and various internal groups.

• Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring for less experienced engineering staff.

• Identify, verify and implement solutions to warranty or quality problems that affect product performance.

• Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering required. Master of Science preferred.

• Minimum of 6 years of full time direct, practical experience required.

• Good understanding of manufacturing processes (Sheet metal, weldments, forgings, castings, machining, etc.) required.

• Experience with trailer products and systems like axles and suspension integration preferred.

• Excellent understanding of static analysis, fatigue analysis and familiar with fundamentals of dynamic and kinematic studies.

• Design experience with structural components.

• Well versed with all MS Office software.

• Extremely good communication skills of all types are a must.
