You Will Be Responsible For:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborates with medical staff leaders, program medical directors and nurse leaders for cardiovascular services to set priorities and develop implementation strategies for initiatives from the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons national outcome registries. 

Provides data management support by utilization of multiple data registries to support Pepin Heart Institute and the regional cardiovascular co-management program.

Manages expenses and FTEs within the Cardiovascular Outcomes Department per the annual budget.


Directs identification, collection, analysis and reporting of overall cardiovascular outcomes and physician-specific

results to drive accountability for system-wide cardiovascular quality priorities.  

Leads innovation on internal performance measures and clinical guidelines that improve financial and 

Clinical outcomes in order to provide patients and payers a superior value proposition.

 

Oversees and directs daily operations of the Cardiovascular Outcomes department, to include monitoring productivity and accuracy as well as ensuring abstraction deadlines are met.

Responsible for educating abstractors on surgical procedures and disease states that are covered in each cardiovascular database. This education will take place on hire.  Staff will be provided supplemental education as needed.

Responsible for maintaining knowledge base on relevant cardiovascular diseases, surgical procedures and databases by reading new literature and attending conferences.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:


Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Demonstrated effective public speaking skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in understandable and compelling terms to all levels of staff, administration, and physicians within the organization.

Strong written communication skills as evidenced by written memorandums, minutes, action plans, and presentations.

Advance knowledge of cardiovascular practice.

Strong analytical skills for identifying root causes and trends.

Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Knowledge of and experience with the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and NCDR database systems

Relational database and SQL experience

CMS and Joint Commission Core Measures

Lean/Six Sigma training and experience

CPHQ certification

Basic and intermediate statistical and numerical analysis methodology

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelors of Science in Nursing, from and accredited School of Nursing

Five (5) or more years of experience in cardiovascular nursing practice, one of which at a leadership and/or teaching level


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

Masters Degree in a healthcare related field


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:


Current license of Registered Nurse in Florida or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement.

Job Summary:

Oversees clinical outcomes for the cardiovascular service line for the West Florida Region.  Responsible for ensuring system-wide improvement strategies, for nationally public-reported cardiovascular measures, meet both national and corporate (AH) goals and for apprising senior leadership, including the Pepin Heart Institute Medical Director of performance.  Responsible for collaborating with senior leadership, program medical directors, elected leaders of the medical staff and cardiovascular  nurse leaders to set priorities and develop improvement strategies for the various national cardiovascular  registries and publicly reported cardiovascular measures.


Leads multidisciplinary teams in the assessment and implementation of cardiovascular initiatives that improve patient outcomes and/or performance measures for the cardiovascular service line. Directs the data collection of critical measures in order to provide overall program outcomes and physician-level outcomes that drive accountability for system-wide cardiovascular quality priorities. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
