Ensure the operational availability of the plant and continually improve process technology with consideration to internal and external regulations, product quality, economy, current technology, equipment integrity, occupational and process safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental protection.

Responsibilities

Cost management

- Initiate and develop concepts to improve plant efficiency, maximize equipment reliability, optimize maintenance spend, and reduce energy costs

- Scoping and cost/benefit analysis of potential projects within area of responsibility

- Steer and control project progress in order to achieve agreed project targets with regards to scope, timeline, and budget

- Lead small investment or maintenance projects

Maintenance and Reliability

- Ensure technical and optimal availability of the production equipment in area of responsibility

- Create and maintain all technical plant documentation; ensure proper utilization of Management of Change

- Work together with planners to define technical locations on equipment and in SAP

- Deliver equipment bad-actor list from analysis of OEE, observations, discussions, and develop appropriate maintenance strategy with maintenance and reliability

- Define and participate in equipment specific inspections during scheduled equipment shutdowns

- Develop equipment specific start-up and shut-down procedures and ensure automation when possible

Occupational and process safety, environmental protection

- Perform and lead process risk analysis; support and implement corresponding action items

- Identify safety critical instrumentation, controls, and devices on process equipment and ensure they are included in the SAMACO list with the appropriate preventative maintenance schedule

- Provide technical support during incident investigations

- Ensure and control compliance with internal and external regulations, guidelines, obligations from authorities and other requirements regarding quality, safety, environmental protection

Project Engineering

- Support and evaluate engineering projects by performing feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, and technical dimensioning of equipment

- Select proper technical partners that provide viable technical solutions for current processes

- Control quality and operational readiness of purchased equipment

Continuous Improvement/ Clariant Excellence

- Identify appropriate cross-functional team and lead structured problem solving workshops to develop solutions for challenges in area of responsibility

- Execute weak-point analysis using Lean-Sigma methods, such as DMAIC, targeting cost reduction, efficiency increase, and a trouble free operation

- Lead, champion and support continuous improvement initiatives and activities to ensure KPI's are met

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide technical assistance to all personnel in area of responsibility

- Provide plant support during introduction of new products to full scale production

- Provide support during commissioning of new equipment

- Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned

Requirements

- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Chemical preferred

- 7+ years experience in amanufacturing environment; Chemical, Food, Phrama preferred

- Ability to read engineering drawings such as P&IDs, elevation drawings, plan drawings, and Isometrics

- Project Management and/or Maintenance Management experience highly preferred

- Lean/Six Sigma Greenbelt a plus

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables and macros), Power Point, Mini-tab, SAP Maintenance Module and Project Module preferred

- Ability to work varied work hours at times

- Must be a self-starter and able to make fast and accurate decisions

- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks effectively.

- Critical thinking, problem solving and decision making ability.

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
