Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability

The Cornell Atkinson Center supports interdisciplinary sustainability research across the entire campus, engaging faculty, staff and students with external organizations in strategic, long-term partnerships that take knowledge to impact. The Center funds a wide range of interdisciplinary research, facilitates fellowships and internships, and hosts a wide variety workshops, conferences and other meetings both on and off campus.

We have an immediate opening for a Project Associate II to support the Sr. Director and Project Managers on a portfolio of programs, projects, and external relationships that build knowledge-to-action collaborations for the Cornell Atkinson Center and Cornell University.

The position is external-facing, focusing on facilitating, managing, monitoring and evaluating partnerships with external organizations and maintaining effective, long-term relationships with those partners. The position reports to the Senior Director for Strategic Partnerships and works closely with other team members and senior faculty leaders of working groups, supporting their team initiatives. Responsibilities include supporting the identification, cultivation, and management of new collaborations and development of new programs and funding opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Relevant Work Experience - 3+ years

Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
-
Strong facilitation and communication skills with diverse audiences - verbal, written, editing, and visual communication.
-
Experience managing programs or projects in non-academic and academic organizations (non-academic experience essential).
-
Experience with project planning, implementation action planning, reporting project status and problem solving.
-
A track record of working on programs and projects across different stakeholder organizations, potentially including business, government, academia, NGOs and other non-profits, entrepreneurs, foundations and high net worth individuals.
-
Knowledge and use of project management software and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

Priority setting, effective management and conflict resolution abilities in complex, multi-partner programs and projects.

Ability to assess client needs and requirements.

Project team management and supervision skills.

Ability to set a climate of high performance and high trust with clients and staff.

Ability to innovate and develop creative solutions to problems.

Experience with relationship development and management between large organizations, in particular cross-sector or public-private partnerships

Experience with project budget development, management and reporting

Knowledge and experience working on sustainability issues (defined by Cornell Atkinson's strategic priorities)

Business proficiency in Spanish
