Job Description:

BSA-ADC is a multi-specialty medical practice with 15 physicians and 6 mid-level practitioners, providing services in gastroenterology, internal medicine, pulmonology, sleep disorders, infectious disease, rheumatology, neurology, nuclear medicine, and endocrinology. As part of the BSA Health System in Amarillo, Texas, a subsidiary of Ardent Health Services, BSA-ADC serves the communities in and around the Texas Panhandle.

Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for the direct and indirect patient care duties assigned to them by the Registered Nurse, following the policies and procedures of the institution. The Medical Assistant will assist with the management and flow of the clinic by assisting with Provides direct patient care and maintains patient flow. Greets patients and escorts to exam room. Weighs patients, takes vital signs. Documents and assesses chief complaint. Performs injections, EKG's, PFT's, apply dressings etc as directed by physician. Instructs patients on where to go after exam or treatment. Prepares exam room for next patient, assures supplies are available in anticipation of physician's needs. Schedules referral appointments and procedures. Assist nurse with patient call-backs. Triage sick patient calls and directs appointments as to schedule. Responsible for the completion of stock requisition and delivering it to Central Supply. Stocks examination rooms with supplies. Assist with patient education.

Education/Licenses/ Certifications:
CPR Heartsaver AED certified from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant - required

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Minimum one year experience working in a physician's office preferred
Able to exhibit competence of skills vital signs, injections, EKG's, and PFT's
Ability to recognize important patient observations and communicate it to the appropriate team member
Ability to manipulate, position, transfer and ambulate various size patients both full assist or partial assist
Basic addition and subtraction skills required
Computer skills necessary; minimum 25wpm accurate EMR documentation
Medical terminology a plus
Prioritize multiple requests
Ability to multi-task constantly and tolerate multiple interruptions
Clear and effective communication (written and verbal) with patients, families and other healthcare professionals

Outgoing; friendly and compassionate customer service skills needed; must be committed to patient and family satisfaction
