Pearson is currently seeking a Site Reliability Engineer, who will be seen as a Subject Matter Expert in the cloud space and will work as a part of a global team. Your main responsibilities are to help maintain systems stability, availability, and performance levels. Reporting to the Manager, you will form part of a global team that will drive best practice in the PaaS arena, we work in a lean agile fashion. You will be expected to collaborate with, and support other agile product development teams and operational teams whose primary responsibilities will be to support education services in production and pre-production environments.
Minimum Required Skills:

- AWS (EC2, ECS, VPC, Route53, S3, etc) - IaC (Terraform or CloudFormation) - System Administration (linux) - Databases (MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL AND MongoDB or Cassandra or DynamoDB) - Python - Javascript - Containerization - CI/CD - Jenkins or equivalent - Network troubleshooting, routing, subnets, security practices - Communication!!!!!
Additional Job Details:

- Maven experience a plus - NodeJS experience a plus - VPC Peering experience is a plus - Ansible / Puppet

Typical Day in the Role: on calls w/ development teams and be available for them when issues come up, tickets working on performance upgrades, how make/improve system better, improve services, reporting/exercise create new instances, tickets understood and planned, a lot of comms w/ teams
