Job Description:

Supports the Army National Guard (ARNG) Substance Abuse Prevention Program (SAP) within the assigned state by developing and maintaining necessary relationships with state Points of Contact (POCs). Develops and facilitates substance abuse prevention training for ARNG units.


  • Implements program goals, objectives, and standard operating.

  • Provides briefings on state and national level substance abuse data for state level ARNG leadership to include topics such as trend analysis, best practices for prevention training, URI and case statuses.

  • Develops and facilitates Substance Abuse Prevention (SAP) training for ARNG Units that meet or supersede the requirements in AR 600-85 and AR 350-53.

  • Coordinates, facilitates, quality checks and ships the Unit Risk Inventory (URI) and Reintegration Unit Risk Inventory (RURI).

  • Contacts Unit commanders to assist and report outcomes of recommended training of the Risk Mitigation Plan (RMP).

  • Inputs all SAP Training into the DAMIS and internal tracking systems.

  • Manages all Substance Abuse referred Soldier cases from initial referral to final disposition stats. This includes coordinating with the Unit Commander, scheduling initial assessment and follow on treatment as needed, tracking progress, weekly check-ins with Soldier, paperwork retrieval, and documenting all communications and progress within the internal database.

  • Serves as a member of the Community Health Promotion Council (CHPC) and the Adjutant General's Alcohol and Drug Intervention Council (ADIC).

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with community-based providers.

  • Maintains the State resource catalog.

  • Compiles and distributes required weekly and monthly reports to the Recruiting and Retention College (RRC).

  • Attends Substance Abuse interim progress reviews.

  • Assists Suicide Prevention Coordinator (SPC) with training and coordination as needed.

Other Job Requirements

Responsibilities


  • Bachelor's Degree in a social science or related field.

  • 3 years of practical experience in the Substance Abuse Prevention, Suicide Prevention, or Risk Reduction field.

  • Instructing and briefing skills with various audiences to include senior level leadership .

  • Ability to work variable schedule as duties require, including weekends that state units are conducting training.
