PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The Loan Serving Specialist supports all aspects of consumer, commerical, and real estate loan servicing. Assists in the efficient, professional and cost effective servicing, including compliance with relevant quality control aspects, of real estate and consumer loans serviced by or through XFCU Loan Servicing Unit. Complies with all relevant Federal, State, or Local laws and regulations, as well as XFCU and investor requirements. This position is aW-2 Contract role that is needed for three months. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES


  • Collect and process incoming mail and faxes in accordance with internal controls and procedures.

  • Resolve complex loan level requests, utilizing expertise and judgement to both identify and correct the loan.

  • Support testing efforts for all system-related updates.

  • Interface with other departments as needed; as well as third party vendors/service providers with respect to the real estate and consumer loan portfolio and reports.

  • Assure the accurate and timely receipt and processing of servicing related data documents and products.

  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of all real estate and consumer loan programs and their servicing standards/requirements.

  • Responsible for accurately and timely handling all deceased accounts.

  • Assist with all aspects of Debt Protection billing and claims processing.

  • Ensure all servicing quality standards are met and maintained on each assigned real estate and/or consumer loan file.

  • Work with the appropriate departments to facilitate a smooth and timely response to all audit requests.

  • Assist with the daily processing of all XFCU closed real estate and commercial loans and monitoring of all critical loan transactions and file maintenance activity.

  • Support the processing of rate changes for variable rate loans and notification to members of new rates, in compliance with applicable Federal, State and Local laws/regulations, as well as XFCU internal requirements.

  • Report status and results of the Servicing Units’ activities.

  • Support all aspects of post-closing tracking for final titles and recorded deeds.

  • Assist in all aspects of force-placement insurance processes in conjunction with XFCU’s collateral protection insurance vendor.

  • Responsible for payment, tracking and recovery for delinquent property taxes for real estate and commerical loans serviced internally.

  • Assist in the maintenance, safekeeing and tracking of consumer and mortgage loan files.

  • Responsible for the accurate processing of loan charge offs and charge off recoveries.

  • Support monthly investor participation-related processes, including wires, balance adjustments and custodial account transactions.

  • Assist with creating or updating departmental procedures.

  • Able to perform manual and complex loan calculations of all real estate and consumer loans.

  • Process loan transactions, including payments, payoffs, and insurance claims.

  • All other responsibilities or duties as assigned to ensure workload coverage, which may change or new ones may be assigned at any time.

  • Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements as described in the Credit Union's  Customer Information Program (CIP), BSA and OFAC Procedures, including recognizing and reporting suspicious and/or CTR reportable activity to the BSA Officer and completing the job-specific required annual BSA/OFAC training as scheduled (with a passing score of 80% or more).


  • High School Diploma required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in lending. Bachelors degree preferred.  Notary Public is a pluss.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required, 4 years preferred.

  • Must be detail oriented, resourceful and organized.

  • Technical knowledge  and experience in the area of mortgage and consumer loan servicing.

  • Must also have a thorough knowledge of credit union regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to research, analyze, and document findings related to new products, processes, and services, including the ability to extrapolate Member acceptance, impact on other departments, and financial implications.

  • Ability to think critically to address various loan servicing needs.

  • Ability to recognize and evaluate risks and potential losses in credit union processes and the structure of credit union assets.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in one-on-one and group environments.

  • Ability to work independently and in teams. 

  • Must have working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 

  • Must be able to analyze and solve problems, including performing analysis and producing professional documentation with recommendations.

  • Ability to understand rates, ratios and percentages, and draw and interpret graphs

  • Must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
