Risk Chief Data Office - Data Quality Lead

Firmwide Risk Management is overseen and managed on an enterprise-wide basis. The Firm's risk management governance and oversight framework involves understanding drivers of risks, types of risks, and impacts of risks.

The Wholesale Risk Chief Data Office (CDO) is aligned with the Risk Management organization and the Firmwide Data Management organization to improve the quality, integrity, and reliability of Wholesale Risk's critical data through the design, implementation, and ownership of a comprehensive data management strategy in line with the firmwide policy and standards. The Wholesale Risk CDO specifically covers Wholesale Credit, Market, Country, Principal and Model Risk.

As the Wholesale Risk CDO Data Quality Lead, the ideal candidate will contribute to the delivery of strategic initiatives across both the Wholesale Risk CDO organization and Firmwide Data Management. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Defining and driving the strategic direction of the Wholesale Risk Data Quality team, which is responsible for producing data quality metrics, syndicating those metrics to senior managers and key stakeholders, and governing known data quality issues through their lifecycle to remediation.
  • Managing a team of 15 people, and ensuring the team executes with a control mindset and in adherence to the appropriate procedures, operating models, and required controls.
  • Communicating the story of the Wholesale Risk Data Quality Landscape to senior stakeholders, inclusive of risks and roadblocks to remediation
  • Connecting with the Firmwide Reference Data projects and program to effectively communicate Risk's impact and concerns; ensuring the Firmwide Reference Data agenda is effectively communicated to the Risk organization

  • Driving strategic data quality initiatives for Wholesale Risk, inclusive of the implementation of the Firmwide Data Governance Policy and Standards as it relates to data quality

  • Maintaining strong working relationships with Wholesale Risk Stakeholders, other Line of Business and Corporate Function CDO groups, and the Firmwide Data Management team to facilitate effective communication and collaboration, influence the strategic firmwide direction and execute the team agenda.


Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 6-8 years of demonstrated leadership; experience in data analytics, data management and/or data controls

  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills; analyzing data with respect to corresponding business and technology processes; and program management a plus


Communication / Influence

  • Excellent ability to quickly learn and assimilate business and technical knowledge, and confidently speak about these processes

  • A developed leadership presence capable of effective messaging of complex systems and processes to junior team members and upper management alike

  • Proven ability to work across diverse groups, build consensus and execute the agreed plans


Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple streams of work concurrently in a flexible, fast paced environment
  • Must be detail oriented, highly responsible and able to work with tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; sound and independent judgment

Technical

  • Overall strong desktop skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and other Office applications

  • Understanding of concepts and hands-on experience working with Business Intelligence tools; such as Qlikview, Alteryx helpful
