About Data Analytics within Corporate & Investment Bank

Data Analytics at J.P. Morgan Corporate Investment Bank combines cutting edge machine learning techniques with the company's unique data assets to optimize all the business decisions we make. In this role, you will be part of our industry-leading data analytics team, and advance the state-of-the-art in financial applications ranging from generating business intelligence to predictive models and automated decision making.

The role will be in the firm's Applied AI and Machine Learning organization and will involve working closely with Digital & Platform Services Operations.

Integrated into the firm's global Banking Transformation initiative, the Digital Investment Bank's is powering clients and bankers' decision making through data and analytics delivered in a market-leading user experience. It operates as a dedicated interdisciplinary team of data scientists and developers led by banking and product experts to generate insightful business-led analytics.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will apply data science techniques from both traditional statistics and machine learning to a combination of third party, publically available and J.P. Morgan proprietary datasets, with the goal of answering questions relevant to Digital Investment Bank (DIB). Key responsibilities include:

• Work on longer term projects as a Data Science Lead, building tooling that can be used to scale certain types of analyses across multiple datasets and business use cases.

• Lead Data Science project end to end , building tooling that can be used to scale certain types of analyses across multiple datasets and business use cases

• As a VP, the candidate must be able to define a project roadmap and be responsible for the execution in a timely manner. Must be able to manage other team members and guide them in the execution

• Collaborate with DIB colleagues to formulate relevant financial and business questions that can be answered by data science.

• Develop domain knowledge on Investment Banking products (Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions, valuation, Shareholder Activism)

• Research and analyze data sets using a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques

• Communicate final results and give context.

• Document approach and techniques used.

• Collaborate with other J.P. Morgan applied AI and machine learning teams.

Required Technical Qualifications and experience

• MS or PhD in a quantitative discipline, e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Physics.

• Must have an understanding of standard data science tooling. Ability to use different techniques to analyze and visualize data

• Strong ability to develop and debug in Python, SQL or similar professional programming language.

• Experience in Analytics and Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence including skills to correctly interpret data

• Must be curious, enthusiastic, hardworking and detail-oriented, and motivated by complex analytical problems.

• Must be able to undertake basic and advanced EDA, should be aware of limitation and implication of methodology choices.

• Must be a data-driven problem-solving person that is able to identify what is relevant as well as understanding how its role as a Data Scientist intersects with engineers and product teams

• Must have an interest in finance, investment banking or related fields

Nice to Have

• Experience with machine learning APIs and computational packages (examples: TensorFlow, Theano, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-Learn, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, statsmodels).

• Experience with big-data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, SparkML, etc.

• Should be able to work both individually and collaboratively in teams, in order to achieve project goals.

• Must have the ability to design or evaluate intrinsic and extrinsic metrics of your model's performance which are aligned with business goals.

• Must be able to independently research and propose alternatives with some guidance as to problem relevance.
