Kimberly-Clark – LaGrange Mill

The Converting Department is responsible for the converting production, packaging, and distribution of Kimberly Clark products.

Note:


  • The LaGrange Mill operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks per year.

  • 12 hour rotating shifts 6:00am to 6:00pm and 6:00pm to 6:00am.

  • Shift rotates between working days and nights every two weeks.

  • It is a basic requirement of this position to meet the above defined work schedule.

Position Purpose:

This position will report to and receive direction from the Asset Team Leader. The position is responsible for the operation, troubleshooting, and upkeep of high-speed machinery used to convert nonwoven material.  The position is also responsible for ensuring superior quality of the produced material. The incumbent will provide support for the converting assets on a rotating shift to ensure short term objectives and future converting goals are achieved.


  • Participate and lead machine start-up, troubleshooting, shutdown, and grade change events.

  • Must be fully trained in all aspects of converting and understands and is capable of applying all of the elements of the training system.

  • The incumbent must demonstrate initiative and flexibility to support the business results of the operating team.

  • Participate in root cause assessments of all safety, product/process, quality and productivity issues and customer complaints.

  • Support total team involvement, communicating to prevent reoccurring mistakes within and across crews ensuring that the on-coming crew is “set up” for success in the functional locations you are supporting.

  • Supports training plan to address crew/converting asset team deficiencies analyzing both self and teammates to support the overall business. Ensures delivery of training to fellow crew members as subject matter expert.

  • Responsible for receiving and responding to performance feedback and necessary developmental opportunities.

  • Participates in giving feedback and recognition to fellow team members to enhance performance.

  • Development of skills that will allow for entry level promotion into manufacturing area.

  • Use lean principles to identify and solve problems.

  • Provide input to equipment and process improvement initiatives.

  • Initiate work requests and record reliability activity in SAP system.

  • Work overtime as required.

The LaGrange Mill production staff works rotating shifts. Associates rotate from days to nights and then back to days every 2 weeks. One week associates work three 12 hour shifts and the next week associates work four 12 hour shifts. Overtime is required occasionally and is not optional.

Qualifications:

Basic:


  • Two years of manufacturing experience, one of which must be continuous.

  • Must be able to maintain a work schedule of 12 hour rotating schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to pass technical skills assessment.

  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred:


  • Three years of manufacturing experience in production operations – of which, two years are continuous employment.

  • Technical training.

  • High mechanical aptitude.

  • Proficient in use of computers.

  • Understanding of Lean principles.
