A Day in the Life

In the Controls SW Test Engineer I role you will join a team of Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineers responsible for developing a surgical robotics platform. This Controls SW Test Engineer I will focus on verification testing, data analysis, and documentation for Medtronic's surgical robotics platform.

You will:


  • Develop, document, and execute verification test methods to evaluate performance metrics of complex, electromechanical medical systems

  • Update test architecture with focus on Continuous Integration

  • Setup and debug verification test apparatus and fixtures that include oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, force sensors, digital measurement systems, and other electronic measurement equipment

  • Analyze multidimensional datasets using Python and MATLAB scripts

  • Write test reports following proper SOP and QA procedures

  • Release components, test fixtures, and documents in Agile

  • Develop and perform test method validations

  • Specify and purchase measurement equipment and maintain calibration records


Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelors degree required
  • 0 years of experience required

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or equivalent)

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in the medical device industry highly preferred.

  • Experience developing design verification methods and test method validations.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team, including written and oral communication

  • Experienced in report writing and development of presentations

  • Clinical knowledge of surgery and uses of product

  • Working knowledge of IEC60601 electrical and safety standards
