Research and Advisory Team Managers play a pivotal role in executing Gartner's business strategy. They help win new clients and retain existing ones by directing the work of a team of analysts, who create thought-leading research, deliver compelling presentations, and help clients solve their most critical challenges through conversations Team Managers also help grow Gartner's business by shaping a climate that allows analysts to learn and thrive in their careers.  

You will lead a team within the ITLTP Sourcing Procurement & Vendor Management Group. Current TMs seeking to stretch by tackling a new area are encouraged to apply.


  • This team has a pivotal role in BuySmart, one of Research & Advisory's 'Grand Challenges,' and is at the leading edge of Gartner's efforts to deliver exceptional value in support of clients' mission critical priorities around cost optimization and effective purchasing.

  • As part of BuySmart, you and your team will be at the forefront of embracing AI technologies and new processes to scale our ability to deliver Proposal Review interactions. As the team leader, you will collaborate closely with the broader cross-R&A BuySmart team, helping to define and execute on this key initiative.

  • Very strong client demand means that this team is growing significantly, so you will be responsible for successfully hiring, on-boarding, and integrating new team members. 

  • While this team is in high demand for interactions, your role will also be to position the team  to deliver both pragmatic and provocative research on negotiating with software and cloud providers and the changes impacting IT contracting in general. 

  • You will also be actively building the risk-taking, team-focused climate that we all want to thrive in. To this end, you will continue to bring innovation and evaluate how we best deliver to the needs of the role we target, be an agent for change, and a connector for your analysts within ITLTP and throughout Gartner.

  • Lead your team to help design and embrace new BuySmart technologies and processes.

  • Identify and implement new ways to scale Gartner's Proposal Review capability and serve clients more effectively.

  • Enable your team to connect and thrive through cross-team projects and risk taking.

  • Drive content innovation and thought leadership within the team and coach/champion the creation of high quality, distinctive and enduring intellectual property that sets up years of healthy growth.

  • Champion, coach and support the delight of clients and prospects in all interactions your team conducts, both with existing and prospective clients

  • Hire, develop, and retain top talent.

Job Requirements:


  • Strong coaching and motivational skills that utilize your excellent leadership, knowing the right things to do and prioritizing them accordingly. 

  • Proven ability to manage a global team, with varying range of experience.

  • Powerful communication skills, and the desire to build and maintain high performing teams.

  • Proven experience in managing teams for quality, while also continuously improving and transforming a business

  • The ability to apply a data driven approach to decision making.

  • Experience in a Gartner Research leadership role (TM, COR, KIL) or previous management experience outside of Gartner, and experience with software and cloud sourcing, preferred.
