Job Description

Reporting to the Global Head of Private Markets Operations, the Private Markets Regulatory Reporting Director will oversee the regulatory reporting function for the Manulife Private Markets funds globally.  The Private Markets Regulatory Reporting Director will be responsible for the timely filing of all US  & EU regulatory reports including AIFMD, Form PF, and FATCA for the Infrastructure, and Real Estate asset classes.  The successful incumbent will also help facilitate the reporting for the Private Equity asset class.

Responsibilities include:




  • Identifying, developing, and coordinating the establishment and maintenance of appropriate procedures and systems required to comply with applicable legislative and regulatory provisions




  • Keeping up to date on compliance requirements for products in existing jurisdictions and implementing operational processes, procedures, controls for any new regulations or changes to existing regulations.




  • Development and delivery of  training to teams on regulatory matters and operational impacts




  • Research of compliance requirements in any regions where the business is pursuing new product offerings and understanding impacts




  • Oversight of compliance service providers




  • Educating and coordinating with Manulife internal teams on any information required for regulatory filings




  • Create a regulatory reporting framework consistent across all private market asset classes




  • Assist with the firms implementation of its regulatory service offerings, including systems integration with a third party provider




  • Providing additional Board Reporting materials as requested.




  • Represent the organization with external parties including auditors




  • Work with the administrator and fund internal teams to ensure data is accurate and presented on time.


Qualifications:




  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience.




  • 8+ years of experience in Alternative investments/Regulatory Reporting.




  • Experience with AIFMD & EU Regulatory Reporting process & framework for Private/Illiquid Asset Strategy Funds




  • Understands differences, or how requirements vary, between fund structures (Closed-End, Open-Ended; Levered, Un-levered; Partnership Accounting, Unitized Accounting)




  • Understands the relationships, handoffs and industry standard owners of reporting functions across: Lux and/or Irish domiciled AIFs, GPs/GP Boards, AIFMs & ManCos.




  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word and MS Access knowledge.




  • Ability to organize multiple parallel tasks/streams




  • Strong communications skills a must




  • Excel in business analysis, presentation and problem solving skills.




  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple functions (Front Office, Middle Office, Operations, compliance, Technology, Corporate Tax and Finance) to ensure communication, collaboration and agreement.




  • Ability to quickly grasp and master new concepts / requirements and related product / functional knowledge.




  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.




  • Strong leadership skills to lead projects/reports and/or manage other senior analysts .




  • Proven organizational and time management skills.




  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.




  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
