New England Biolabs is seeking a computational scientist to work collaboratively with bench scientists. Together we will build tools, analyze sequence results, and integrate data from instrumentation, ultimately producing high quality, rigorously tested, and provably excellent products. Required Qualifications / Experience:
Advanced degree in computational biology, bioinformatics or a molecular biology related field with significant data analysis experience. Computational training with significant biological experience is also acceptable.
Software development skills (Ruby, Python, R, etc.)
Appreciation for simple, high quality, maintainable software
Demonstrated scientific communication skills
Strong work ethic, emphasizing both efficiency and quality of work
Accessible evidence of software development history (e.g. Github)
Passion for learning
Preferred Qualifications / Experience:
Expertise with high volume sequence data analysis
Modern web development skills (HTML5, Rails, Vue.js, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Cluster computing
Publication of original scientific work in relevant journals
