Start Time :  3:00pm 

End Time :  11:30 pm 

Schedule Days : Monday - Friday 


Job Summary:


Repair and/or rebuild structurally failed or worn parts requiring welding process reconstruction.  Work in adverse weather and other adverse shop and field situations presented by customer needs.  Accept all out of town assignments requiring overnight stays.  Communicate orally and in writing information, instructions, and explanations to associates, customers, and management regarding conditions, problems, and recommendations.


Essential Functions:



  1. Fabricate and/or repair metal parts.

  2. Comprehend and interpret sketches and diagrams.

  3. Operate welding equipment.

  4. Prepare service reports.

  5. Plan and control cost of repair jobs.

  6. Maintain company equipment – keep in good clean orderly condition.

  7. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.

Additional Responsibilities:



  1. Own and maintain required personal tools.

  2. Learn and use Empire, Caterpillar and allied product procedures and systems.

  3. Perform other related duties as assigned.

  4. Maintain current MSHA card if work area requires.

  5. Provide on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned. 

  6. Work overtime as needed.

  7. Travel to remote locations as needed.

  8. Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.

  9. Work within and promote corporate values.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:



  1. Perform complex and innovative welding procedures.

  2. Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming adhere to company policy.

  3. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively.

  4. Able to read and correctly interpret diagrams & blueprints.

  5. Basic knowledge of heat stresses in metal.

  6. Know proper use of cleaners and solvents.

  7. Ability to maintain consistent attendance.

Education and Experience:



  1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  2. Current driver’s license.

  3. Minimum of 6 months related experience.

  4. Current AWS D1.1 and D14.3 certification.

  5. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
