Department's Website:fayjones.uark.eduSummary of Job Duties:The Network Support Specialist monitors all network systems for potential problems; makes recommendations for upgrades in order to support new technology or customer requests; helps develop and maintain relationships with network users and vendors to provide the best possible solution to customer needs; supports core network hardware and software installations and changes. Performs other duties as assigned.

The Network Support Specialist will oversee technical support delivery for three departments within the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, and two off-site programs, Garvan Gardens, and University of Arkansas Community Design Center. Other areas of obligation include servers, storage, networking, licensing, and disaster recovery. This position will also assist in maintaining physical desktops within the School, maintain inventory and create surplus batches for pickup, and assist with the upkeep of printing stations. This position will oversee the Systems Analyst and student assistants. This position requires participation in University IT services meetings and select committees.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
-
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, systems engineering, or related field

At least two years of experience in data network operations/design, or a related field

Applicable equivalencies may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
-
At least seven years of experience with enterprise storage technologies to include Fiber Channel, iSCSI, andNFS
-
Experience with working in an educational environment
-
Extensive experience with deploying and maintaining VMwareESX6, and Horizon Suite
-
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of networking to include layer 3 design and implementation and management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-
Knowledge of VMwareESX5/6, VMware Horizon Suite, Server Management, Layer 3 networking, Active Directory management, and enterprise storage administration
-
Strong organizational skills
