    • Assist patients with performing activities of daily living when delegated by RN. Keeps the nurse up-to-date on any changes in patient information. Exhibits exceptional patient experience by upholding Beacon values of respect, trust integrity and compassion and displaying relationship based care. Reports to the Director.

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Education and Experience
      • Certification as a Nursing Assistant in the state of Indiana (105-hour state-approved training course). If certified as out of state CNA, employee will have 120 days to obtain Indiana certification or employment will be terminated. Must successfully complete a Nurses Aide Certification Course. The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) within 3 months of hire and maintain current certification. One year nursing home experience (prefer skilled care), home health care, or private duty experience preferred.



    • Knowledge & Skills

      • Familiarity with basic hospital equipment and policies and procedures.


      • Able to perform blood pressure and other vital signs correctly.


      • Knowledge of and correct utilization of good body mechanics.


      • Requires an understanding of the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions.


      • Strong team player.


      • Communicates clearly and promptly with supervising nurse in order to give prompt care and experience for patients and families.


      • Basic computer knowledge and skills.




    • Working Conditions

      • Moderate stress involved when census and/or acuity is high or staff is low.


      • Potential hazards due to possible direct exposure to residents with infectious diseases, exposure to sometimes hostile and combative residents.




    • Physical Demands

      • Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, walking or standing.


      • Work may require an awkward position to be assumed for short periods of time in lifting or handling heavy patients.
