Are you a strategic, proactive, innovative CAD Drafter capable of handling complex designing and drafting assignments under minimal supervision from Engineers?


Are you a CAD Drafter capable of problem solving and critical thinking and possess meticulous attention to detail?


Spec Engineering is seeking an impact player and difference maker to join our team as a CAD Drafter who is focused on evolving and embracing new design techniques and development processes. We are a privately held, fast growing, and stable full-service process engineering firm with our main office located in Plainfield Il, and a second location in Chicago. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Create drawings and models from written and verbal specifications obtained from Project Engineer and/or sales.

  • Design and prepare plans using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

  • Produce effective product designs by using understanding of engineering and manufacturing techniques.

  • Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers.

  • Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new building projects or products.

  • Work with Engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and design documentation.

  • Work closely with designers, drafters, and engineers to ensure coordination design effort is maintained.

  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule.

  • Update and maintain drafting library.

  • Draw Process Flow Diagrams, elevation drawings, fabrication drawings using standards set by department lead.

  • Develop 3D models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings.

  • Examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications.

  • Work in a collaborative manner with team members to see projects through to completion.

Required Education/Experience:



  • Two-year associate degree program at a technical school or community college

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in both AutoCAD and SolidWorks

  • Experience in a fabrication environment is preferred
