Job Description:

WPIX has an immediate opening for a part-time staff writer to join our team.  Position writes and edits stories under the station brand for all appropriate platforms.

This position requires journalistic skills, including exceptional writing skills, the ability to manage multiple editorial projects at the same time, and the ability to maintain close and effective relationships with key members of the team and our local community to better understand important and complex issues.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Work closely with Show Producers, Executive Producers, Digital Producers, Anchors, Reporters and Assignment Editors on Assigned Content Platform

  • Produce and Write Clear, Concise, Well Researched and Accurate Scripts for both Broadcast and Digital Platforms in a Quick and Efficient Manner

  • Perform Basic Video Editing

  • Develop and Execute Fresh Ways to Tell Stories Using Compelling Graphics, Sound and Video

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Minimum 1 Year Producing or Writing for a Medium to Large Market Newscast
