Job Description:

Come join us at WPIX in New York City, New York where Scripps is continuing to create the future of our industry with a focus on the local community.  As we grow, we are looking for a Show Booker that will book newsmakers, experts, and other guests on a wide variety of topics for a national news network, including for a nightly live TV program and for taped news and feature stories.

Key Activities


  • Book interviews on a wide variety of topics, including national and international news, politics and policy, science and technology, and pop culture.

  • Facilitate logistics for interviews

  • Conduct pre-interviews

  • Write introductions for guests and suggested questions for anchors and reporters

  • Build and maintain a guest database

  • Pitch story ideas

Skills

Education & Experience/Certifications


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Previous experience working as a guest booker, preferably for a national news outlet

Skills & Abilities


  • Strong knowledge of and interest in current events

  • Exceptional research skills, including the ability to track down people

  • Ability to think creatively and come up with unique guest ideas

  • Works well under deadline

  • Enjoys being persistent

  • Strong people skills are essential 

  • Proven performance and an established rolodex in booking high profile New York and New Jersey Newsmakers as well as Local and National Celebrities

Work Environment


  • Standard office environment

  • Travel less 10%
