Nemours is seeking a Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist (Part-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.

Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children’s Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.

This position is responsible for providing Pharmacy Services within the Inpatient and Outpatient Retail Pharmacy Department and the Nemours Children’s Hospital. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist will review, clarify, verify, and provide  recommendations for medication orders and be responsible for the dispensing of medications, and the activities surrounding dispensing, throughout the hospital and its associated clinics at Medical City. 

Job Duties


  • Reviews,  interprets, and verifies medications orders for accuracy using sound principles, accounting for pharmacology of the drug, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variations in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination with responsibility for establishing and overseeing the delivery and preparation of unit dose and parenteral pharmaceuticals

  • Carries out rules and regulations pertaining to the professional policies of the pharmacy department and ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations concerning Controlled Substances

  • Provide pediatric pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes including advising physicians and practitioners on issues concerning drug therapy, the inherent toxicity of drugs, drug-drug, drug-food interactions and side effects, as well as assisting in the prescribing of appropriate doses

  • Responsible to provide accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the professional staff and to patients and their families if needed

  • Coordinates the activities of pharmacy technicians engaged in the preparation, labeling and delivery of medications in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs, controlled drugs, investigational drugs, and the maintenance of required records

  • Reads, extract, and interprets information in patient’s charts accurately

  • Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Collects data; conducts quality monitors and inspections; maintain logs, records, and other documentation as assigned

  • Promote the use of the Nemours Children’s Hospital drug formulary by converting non-formulary orders to formulary when possible, but facilitates procurement of non-formulary drugs when necessary

  • Establish and maintain an open communication process throughout the hospital

  • Works with other NCH colleagues to engage the patient and their family in medication discussions, planning and educational sessions to support Patient and Family Centered Care

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required. PharmD preferred.

  • Pediatric Hospital experience preferred.

  • Currently licensed by the State of Florida or legally eligible.

  • Minimum of six (6) months experience required. Prior work experience to include months/years working as a Pharmacy Technician, a Pharmacist Intern and/or while in a Residency program. Residency program to be equivalent to 2 years of work experience.

  • Unit dose training, IV, TPN, Oncology, drug storage, distribution, and automation technology systems experience. EPIC and Pyxis experience preferred.

  • AHA BLS required within 30 days of hire.
