As the Packaging Design Manager, you will use your professional experience to determine how to use resources to achieve schedules and goals. This Servant Leader and subject matter expert understands how brand translates to the physical packaging designs, while seeking innovative solutions to support sustainability and environmental friendliness initiatives. You will inspire and manage a team of packaging graphic designers, engineers and program specialists to provide a holistic view of packaging that meets the deadlines and deliverables presented by the business, while collaborating cross functionally to ensure all projects effectively align with global requirements.

Responsibilities

Creative: Represents the operations aspects on marketing strategies, translating various brand strategies and business requirements into packaging design, development & execution strategies to deliver an on time packaging product. Responsible for
- Packaging design/execution: Guides and activates the team on strategic initiatives, operational needs and roadmap of projects from concept to artwork to suppliers. Works in close partnership with many cross-functional areas (Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales, Sourcing, Legal, Regions, OEMs, Product Development, Program Management and Customers) to understand the Packaging Brief and schedule and then manages the expectations, development process, assures samples, and collects/provides feedback to/from stakeholders. Ensures that all packaging is designed for cost, manufacturability and business objectives. Deliver and execute all projects within budget and on time.
- Team and Development: Proactively develop, coach, motivate and servantly lead a team of 8 -10 high performing, skilled packaging professionals. Review and approve work of the packaging design and engineering team in the production of all packaging assets. Drive collaborative relationships between team members, suppliers and the organization. Build a positive culture and team environment by being an advocate and voice to the business and provide consistent learning and development opportunities. Support and maintain a positive safety culture by being an active leader in all safety program initiatives.
- Innovation: Drive innovation in packaging through structure, materials and manufacturing processes by staying up to date on industry trends and technology particularly when it comes to environmental /sustainability trends, new materials, robotics and automation. Engage suppliers about their advancements in technology.
- Organizational alignment: Is an active member of the Packaging Council. Brings voice of packaging operations at product alignment and NSI briefs representing the resources, priorities and packaging roadmap expectations to the organization. Manages the packaging operations process to drive improvements while providing support and escalation through engineering, production and manufacturing. Collaborating with all stakeholders and suppliers to optimize and streamline the packaging process with mindfulness and assurances to cost, resource capacity and scalability. Participates on Sustainability council.
- Responsible for the development and management of departmental budget, operating expenses, team activities, and team salary recommendations.
- Support and maintain a positive safety culture by being an active leader in all safety program initiatives
- Other duties as required

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Packaging Science or Engineering required. Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
- Minimum of four years of experience in graphics, structural and retail package design and deployment required
- Minimum of one year of experience in a mentor/manager/supervisor/leadership role required
