Job Title: Custodian

Job Summary: Perform basic cleaning duties and specific custodial functions as related to the specific requirements of the client's business segment. Must work in a safe and professional manner at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them

- Gather and empty trash. Take to designated dumping area

- Service, clean, and supply restrooms to include but not limited to cleaning toilets, urinals, sinks, fixtures, floors, trash, lockers etc.

- Clean and polish designated furniture and fixtures. Perform all dusting to include pictures, wall clocks etc.

- Spot clean walls around light switches

- Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to manufacturer's specifications.

- Clean carpets designated by site lead. Used designated cleaning methods

- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors per designated PM calendar. Touch up floors as required

- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.

- Assist in basic General Maintenance as needed, i.e. Light Bulb Changes, Touch up Painting, etc

- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning duties

- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, to prepare facilities for events and functions such as banquets and meeting.

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma, G.E.D. or Equivalent

- At least one year related experience and/or training

- Ability to read and comprehend instructions including, but not limited to, safety policies and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations.

- Must be able to operate basic custodial equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors and floor buffing machines.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Requires use and exposure to chemicals. Exposure to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather and extreme heat. Noise level ranges from very quiet to very loud. May be required to wear metatarsal boots, safety glasses and hearing protection for work in designated areas within an industrial environment.
