Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering has an immediate opening for a dynamic Traction Power System (TPS) Engineering Manager in our growing Rail Transit Systems Group based in McLean, Virginia. The TPS Engineering Manager will work on an interdisciplinary team including: geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, roadway engineers, estimators, schedulers and construction experts to perform engineering analysis, design, and estimates in support of design-build pursuits and ongoing projects.

You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail/transit and systems, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering Group's Design Build Management team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Particularly on large design-build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. Location

This position is based out of our Mclean, VA office.

Responsibilities


  • Plans and manage the all aspects of highly complex rail electrification projects to ensure the delivery of cost-effective traction power system solutions that meet internal and external client needs. This includes scope definition, design development, cost estimation and budget management, project progress evaluation and reporting, engineering support services during construction, safety certification and system integration support services, project closeout, etc.,

  • Provide technical guidance to support the entire organization for successful project delivery. This includes, but not limited to, peer review, develop technical white paper, site visiting and troubleshooting, attend technical meetings, factory and field test witness, etc.,

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Traction Power System engineering team and provide leadership,

  • Train and mentor engineering staffs,

  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for an integrated design and construction process leveraging industrial best practices and lessons learned,

  • Recognizes the importance of customer needs,

  • Performs and leads quality checks of the design and engineering of major-sized project to ensure accuracy,

  • Plans work independently with no supervision and consults others on technical details of their work.

Qualifications


  • This position requires an experienced candidate who can succeed in a multi-discipline, design-build environment.Strong communicate skills that ensure effective communication with internal and external clients, sub-consultants, and suppliers to support the successful delivery of complex rail electrification projects.

  • Strong leadership skills to manage and mentor technical staffs working toward a common goal.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills

  • Bachelor's degrees in engineering fields.

  • 15 years of relevant traction power system experience.

  • 5 years of leadership and/or technical team management experience.

  • Professional engineering license in United States or ability to obtain one in 6 months.
