Manager, R&D
Responsible for planning and directing the activities in a Research and Development department (Product Development, Sustaining, Packaging, or Research and Testing). This includes overseeing research and testing activities as part of product development and aligning engineering efforts with Acumed's vision. Other activities will include biomechanical lab management, test method establishment and analysis and the oversight of new lab build-out, establishment of a publishing strategy and biomechanical testing partnerships and research into new platform technologies, materials and methods.

Duties/Responsibilities
Participate in the overall product and process strategy of the company.
Coordinate financial and budget activities for department maximize investment return and increase efficiency.
Oversee personnel and employee development.
Establish the overall direction, objectives and initiatives of the Product Development,Sustaining, Packaging, or Research & Testing department and manages the functions necessary to accomplish these activities.
Lead and drive assigned teams and sets target result for the department.
Ensure that all engineering projects, initiatives, testing, research, and processes are in conformance with the company's policies and objectives.
Lead and assign investigation of scientific, clinical, and mechanical data relating to existing and future projects.
Complete the duties described in the Quality Assurance Manual.
Develop personnel to manage and design engineering projects and processes.
Provide learning and development opportunities to assigned direct reports. (i.e. leadership, innovation, and teamwork).
Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field plus 8 or more years of experience in orthopedic industry design or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Master's Degree preferred
5 or more years of leadership experience
Project management experience required
Experience in a Regulated Environment is required, examples include: FDA, ISDO, ASTM, and GLP Regulations
Statistical Proficiency and application of statistics in testing methods (highly preferred)
Proven ability to effectively lead teams and positively interact cross-functionally
Experience with developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers
Experience with FDA and ISO regulations
Proficient knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods, experience with Quality Assurance Systems and concepts
