Department's Website:Summary of Job Duties:The Student Support Services (SSS) Program Director is responsible for the organization, facilitation, assessment, and regulatory compliance management of Student Support Services, a U.S. Department of Education-funded TRIO grant providing retention support to current University of Arkansas students who are first-generation college students, who meet low federally defined low-income thresholds, and/or who are students with disabilities. The Program Director supervises one full-time SSS staff member and oversees SSS operations and services provided by dedicated SSS academic advisors/counselors, working from within the colleges. The Program Director must receive and guarantee that other program staff receives training regarding grant management and compliance in such areas as required program services, data integrity, records retention, budget management, program performance, and student outcomes. The Program Director is also the principal investigator of the SSS grant and is responsible for fulfilling the plan of operations and pursuing the project's purpose and goals.Qualifications:

Salary Information:$68,000

A master's degree in education, counseling, policy, or related field

from an accredited institution of higher education

At least five years experience with academic retention intervention and support for college students

Experience serving first-generation and low-income college students with academic resources and support programming

At least three years experience with grant management or other high-level project management, including project planning, data assessment, and compliance
-
Experience managing complex budgets
-
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and educational equity

Preferred Qualifications:
-
At least five years experience with college retention program leadership
-
Demonstrated performance in successful academic advising, retention, and graduation programming
-
Experience as a low-income college student and/or first-generation college student, or other lived experience as a student facing obstacles to college persistence/completion
-
Experience writing and evaluating grants or other complex project proposals
-
Personal and/or professional TRIO experience
-
Supervisory experience
-
Experience working with and managing teams across a wide institutional network

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of TRiO and Student Support Services purposes and requirements

Knowledge of academic advising and coaching strategies for college students
-
Knowledge of financial aid and scholarship processes and other financial literacy needs and issues relative to college students of all classifications

Knowledge of campus resources for student success

Program/grant management, compliance, and evaluation skills

Budget planning and management skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to relate to and provide effective retention support to students who are navigating college and specific obstacles commonly experienced by students who are potentially the first in their family to earn a four-year degree and who experience financial need

Ability to manage complex team projects and coordinate teams of professionals working in and across different campus units
-
Ability to interpret and manage policies and procedures from institutional, state, and federal governing structures
