Our May Center Schools for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, and our May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurobehavioral Disorders offer full-day, year-round educational services to children and adolescents.

Our schools focus on building communication, social, behavioral, vocational, and academic skills. We base our programs on applied behavior analysis, or ABA, which has been shown through hundreds of scientific studies to be the most effective method to teach children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities.

The May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurobehavioral Disorders successfully educates students with
complex needs and co-occurring diagnoses. These young people often require a combination of physical, medical, cognitive and social/behavioral therapies in an environment that supports skill development and rehabilitation.

The May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurobehavioral Disorders in Brockton, MA is looking for a full-time Speech and Language Pathologist. This position will workin coordination and cooperation with the student, families, LEA, and the following departments - residential, educational, behavioral, vocational education, nursing, family services and social services.

The May Center School for Brain Injury and Neurobehavioral Disorders offers full-day, year-round educational services to children and adolescents, focusing on building communication, social, behavioral, vocational, and academic skills. The program and interventions are based on research and are data driven.

The Speech and Language Pathologist ensures that language services are provided in a progressive and thorough manner to meet the needs of the children served in the school and residential programs. The therapist will work and interact with students with a range of neurological disorders including those with challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct individual and group treatments to students

Screen new admissions to the school and residential program

Complete 3-year evaluations and reports using standardized and informal assessment tools. Develop written goals and programs to address language needs based on the results.

Provide training to staff regarding communication tips, communication devices, hearing needs, and swallowing needs

Provide consultation to teachers and residential staff

Prepare relevant speech and language therapy materials for teachers and residential staff carrying out individualized language programs

Attend and participate in IEP planning and student review meetings

Write IEP goals, objectives and progress notes for each student

Qualifications:

Massachusetts License as a Speech and Language Pathologist
- Clinical fellow's welcome to apply

Good written and verbal communication

Good time management and organizational skills

Previous experience with individuals with developmental disabilities strongly preferred
