Our Team. Work with three well established Cardiothoracic Surgeons and two other mid-level providers/first assistants. We perform 400 open cardiac procedures/year in our 2 dedicated Cardiac Surgical Operating rooms. Our team also performs TAVR, Mitraclip, Impella procedures, and robotic thoracic surgery. Our team has remained cohesive and is dedicated to a collaborative work environment.

Our UT Health Cardiothoracic Surgeons are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. This position will be Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 3:00pm, plus call. We are looking for your experience, knowledge and patient care skills where you will be responsible for:

* Assistance with rounding, drain and wound management, discharge planning and medical dictation. These responsibilities will be shared with other mid-level providers and/or attending physician during the week.

* Operative assistance with adult cardiac and general thoracic surgical procedures including Coronary revascularization, structural heart and oncology cases.

* Availability during primary working hours (6:30am-3:00pm M-F) to assist ICU/Floor nursing in patient care concerns.

* Call responsibilities average 1:3 shared with other Mid-level providers for Urgent/Emergent cases. No Inpatient rounding duties required during weekend.

Job Requirements
So what experience are we looking for in our Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants?

* Current Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License or Current Texas Physician Assistant License

* Two years' experience functioning in the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant role within Cardiothoracic Surgery

* First assist experience with cardiothoracic procedures

* Endoscopic vein harvesting experience

* Experience with inpatient CVT (chest tubes, notes, discharges)
