POSITION DESCRIPTION
Patient Relations Representatives are one of the fastest growing human service occupations in hospital settings. The Patient Relations Representative's role and function has certain similarities to social work.

The Northside Hospital Patient Relations Representative serves as the initial representative for the organization and is responsible for maintaining direct contact with patients of all ages, families, and visitors to provide emotional support, assistance, and a mechanism for grievances. The duties of this position require the exercise of courtesy and patience in speaking with patients, families, and others to maintain sound public relations.
A social services background and/or volunteer experience in the field of social work, psychology or community service have proven most helpful for success in this role. In addition, proven critical thinking skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills are needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Two years experience in an occupation requiring advocacy, public relations customer service or medical setting, or a higher education degree (Associates, Bachelor's degree etc.). Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and exceptional communication/customer service skills. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in utilization of computer application and knowledge of word-processing programs (specifically, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel). Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to type 30 - 40 words per minute. High School diploma.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: No

WORK HOURS: 8:30am to 5pm

WEEKEND REQUIREMENTS: No

ON-CALL REQUIREMENTS: No.
