Idaho National Laboratory s (INL) Construction Quality Inspection group is hiring a Quality Inspector to provide inspections and oversight for construction projects all over INL's properties both in-town and at our desert site.

They are based in-town, however will spend most time at the site approximately 1 hour from Idaho Falls. This is considered an essential position and is not eligible for telework due to COVID-19.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Provide independent quality assurance inspection functions in support of general construction/project management activities at the INL and at subcontractor facilities.

* Activities include the performance of nondestructive examination, dimensional inspection, civil inspection including earthwork, concrete and structural, general mechanical/piping and general compliance to all subcontract, specification and drawing requirements.

* Work will be performed to instructions provided in inspection planning packages and as directed by management.

* Work will be performed independently with little supervision.

* Must be able to manage several job tasks and schedule accordingly.

* Must communicate clearly with the customer base including construction and project management, quality engineering, and subcontractors. Provide assistance to Quality Engineers during design reviews and inspection planning.

* General purpose is to assure the INL that work is compliant to requirements by verifying and validating work performed by others.

* TS0300 - High School and 6 years related experience

* TS0400 - High School and 8 years related experience

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

* Individual skills in various Nondestructive Examination (NDE) techniques is a must. Must be capable of using NDE techniques to solve complex inspection problems. Must display a working knowledge of inspection codes and standards.

* Individual will be required to work independently with the customer or crafts and interface with customers when performing assignments.

* Salary Grade: 170/180

* Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and the selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills

* As a non-exempt position, we are unable to offer a relocation package.

* Certifications: NDE test inspector - Q/A Inspector, Testing Designated Position (TDP)

* Surveillance exams: N/A
