The Program Assistant provides general information and referral of services offered by My Sister’s Place Women's Center Responsible for maintaining the facility in a clean, safe, secure manner. Contributes to the spirit of hospitality and welcome among residents, volunteers and visitors.
The Program Assistant is responsible for:
Provide assistance as needed, assures that each guest receives services in a dignified and respectful manner, from a trauma informed perspective, welcomes, volunteers, guests and visitors to the program
Participates in all scheduled workshops, staff meetings, and in-service trainings provided for staff development.
Monitor building activity to help ensure safety, security and compliance with building policies and procedures.
Respond to emergency situations appropriately and in a professional manner. • Handle all specialized tasks which include monitoring the compliance of policies and procedures, reporting incidents, writing violations, and emergency intervention as required.
Provide general assistance to guests and assist in various aspects of delivery of services including assisting in the operation of meals, clothing, laundry, and shower rooms. Assist in housekeeping matters, including maintenance and upkeep of the buildings/storage area and report necessary repairs to the supervisor. • Ensure guests are aware of their rights and the grievance process.
This position will require the following:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Six months of related human services experience preferably working with the homeless or at-risk populations.
Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
Must be able to intervene between two or more people in a non-violent manner.
Must display interest in a team work approach and be able to foster an atmosphere of hospitality.
