The Laboratory Technician II will support the business by providing technical support, including performing duties related to testing. We're looking for someone with the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out test instructions.

Duties:


  • Setting up test apparatus, o perating equipment, maintaining equipment and facilities
  • Preparing test samples
  • Obtaining and recording test data in accordance with standards
  • Performing basic analysis of test data and routine calculations
  • ecord data and write reports in standardized formats
  • Participate in proofing of project reports
  • May extract and compile engineering data
  • May prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures
  • May make recommendations regarding technical decisions relating to the interpretation and applicability of test standards
  • May communicate with clients and management regarding tests or improvements
  • Assist and instruct other laboratory technicians
  • Perform a wider variety of tests than Grade I to include non-standard tests
  • Have a broad understanding in specific areas or for specific tests developed through experience in performing the tests.
  • Performing other work as required

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED and ­­­­two year(s) of relevant experience or the equivalent in terms of education, experience and training
  • Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out test instructions
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
  • Must be quality driven and customer focused.
  • Microsoft Office software proficiency, including Word, Excel and Outlook\
  • Ability to Squat, lift and climb ladders and stairs
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds
