The Role:

You will work in a global multidisciplinary oncology project team to develop novel cancer therapies. As a Translational Research Lead, you will drive and contribute to the clinical development of new programs by building and executing the translational research and biomarker strategy.

Responsibilities:

The Translational Research (TR) lead will be responsible for the translational research and biomarker strategy for the project and will represent the Translational Research group in a multidisciplinary Compound Development Team (CDT). The TR lead will work independently and in collaboration with other translational research team members to develop an integrated translational/clinical biomarker research strategy and plan including scientific and preclinical justification and rationale for proposed clinical testing, timelines and guidance for operational aspects of the planned translational research strategies. The TR lead will co-chair project-related TR subteam meetings to ensure execution of the translational research and biomarker strategy, review and interpret clinical biomarker data, review new translational research proposals and manage translational aspects of ongoing studies.

The TR lead will be responsible for communication of the translational/biomarker project findings and interpretation to the TR leadership and senior managers in Genmab. The TR lead will enrich translational/biomarker projects in immune-oncology/oncology through interaction with Genmab's Translational Research Department, the New Products Group and the Antibody Research & Technology Group, as well as external leaders.

The Translational Research Lead will:


  • Develop and support the TR/biomarker strategy and workplan for specific Genmab projects, in collaboration with other functional experts, to impact clinical development decision making (i.e.: dose selection using PD markers, patient selection using predictive biomarkers, indication selection based on translational research data, etc.).


  • Oversee the execution of the translational research and biomarker workplan.


  • Communicate TR strategy, plan and findings to CDT, CDT subteams, and governance committees within Genmab.


  • Contribute to the preparation of regulatory documentation and interactions, including preparation of Translational/Biomarker sections in Clinical protocols, Investigator Brochures, Compound Development Plans, and Clinical Study Reports.


  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external functional experts that can contribute to the TR strategy. Responsible for managing scientific content and execution of research agreements with external collaborators.


Qualifications:


  • A Ph.D. or an M.D./D.V.M./Ph.D. in oncology, preferably immuno-oncology or related field, with at least five (5) or more years of translational research, applicable biomarker, and/or drug discovery or clinical trial experience.

  • A strong background in tumor biology and immune-oncology.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry research experience desirable.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with bioinformaticians to analyze large omics- type datasets

  • A strong publication record demonstrating relevant experience in early drug development, translational research, biomarkers or clinical trials.

  • Strong communication skills and sufficient experience in drug discovery and/or early development to represent a diverse TR and biomarker team in a CDT and to communicate goals and deliverables to senior management and governance committees throughout Genmab.

  • A 'getting things done' mentality, pro-active, enthusiastic and goal orientated.

  • Must be capable of working in global project teams. Travel will be approximately 10-15%.
