Tech Tetra Inc. is currently seeking a Health and Safety (H&S) Representative for our Northern, CA Project to assist in the implementation of the Tetra Tech, Inc. (TDR) health and safety program at the local level and to support and communicate with the Division's Director of Health Safety & Logistics on project-related health and safety matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Clear and timely communication with the TDR Director Health Safety & Logistics on all project-related health and safety issues.
  • Careful and thorough Tetra Tech incident and near miss reporting.
  • Communication of and Training on TetraTech Health & Safety policy and programs.
  • Scheduling and tracking of HAZWOPER refresher training, first aid/CPR, and other required training (construction safety, etc.)
  • Provide new hire orientation training and daily tailgate safety talks.
  • Documentation of all training.
  • Tracking of medical surveillance exam scheduling for new hires, annual/biennial, project-specific, and exit exams for participating employees ensuring HAZWOPER employees have been cleared as "Fit for Duty" and medical work limitations or restrictions are adhered to.
  • Obtain standard company-issued PPE for new hires (hard hat, safety glasses, traffic vest, cotton work gloves, etc.) through Logistics requests.
  • Conduct Vehicle Safety Program training.
  • Make sure all required H&S notices and ESIS clinic list are posted in employee accessible areas

The candidate will be team-oriented, organized, efficient and effective. In addition, the ideal candidate will have/is required to be/have:


  • A bachelor's degree in safety management, industrial hygiene or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically, six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

  • Have a CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or (CIH) Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • Credentials including current 30-hour Construction Safety and HAZWOPER.

  • Five years of experience developing and implementing occupational safety and health programs.
  • Working knowledge of federal OSHA and CA safety regulations and understanding of the compliance requirements prescribed in the regulations.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise and complete written reports.
  • Ability to function independently, with regular reporting to the Director of Health Safety & Logistics.
  • Broad knowledge of company functions (financial, marketing, operations, etc.)
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with ability to recognize, analyze and recommend alternative solutions to problems and issues.
  • Proficient computer skills with various software applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint preferred) and aptitude necessary to operate software related to work requirements.
  • Effective oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel to remote locations
  • Availability to respond immediately for crisis support activities.
  • Ability and availability to work long hours, 6-7 days per week during disaster recovery operations.
