The role of the Senior Principal IT Project Lead is to establish and maintain appropriate governance arrangements for one or more projects or programs that ensure the successful implementation of the outcomes derived through the changes. This is achieved through effective:

    A DAY IN THE LIFE



  • Identify and manage program scope across several interrelated projects

    o Prepare impact analyses against scope, schedules, and budget


    o Identify, review, and present all Change Requests to governance groups



  • Ensure quality of all program and project outcomes, deliverables, and products by complying with all Corporate and Global IT policies, Standards, Procedures, and Processes


  • Create, maintain, and report Business Case and Benefits Realization Plan at the program level by collaborating with finance to develop the benefits and ROI, and manages the financial cost modeling


  • Ensure adherence to best practices for developing, implementing, and maintaining Global Quality System processes across all projects in the program


  • Create, maintain, and report across the program project schedules and resource management plans by liaising with key Stakeholders and implementation resource groups to ensure alignment of priorities


  • Provide critical leadership to ensure overall quality of program planning and execution, while minimizing and mitigating project risks

    o Identify, mitigate, and review Risk and Issue Logs for the overall program


    o Assume ownership for all program level risks and issues


    o Assume ownership for all critical project level risks and issues



  • Ensures adequate project and team training to core teams within the program

    o Provide coaching and mentoring to resources managing projects within your program; including use of EPMO tools and methods.


    o Coaches team members in the program to ensure process adherence and effective project management, utilizing best practice project management skills, as well as framing and resolving issues through best practices



  • Accountable to Program Leadership for the program's success


  • Provide performance feedback to Resource Managers on Project Managers within your program


  • Establish and maintain EPMO standards in line with Business Owner and Project Sponsor needs across the program


  • Talent development

    o Acquire and retain top level talent


    o Provide leadership to multiple project managers to achieve program objectives with high quality work products that are delivered on time and on budget


    o Develop annual goals


    o Coach and mentor direct reports

    MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)



  • Bachelor's degree


  • 10+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree

    NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)



  • Demonstrated progressive experience in size and scope of programs managed and projects lead


  • Previous Medtronic experience


  • Program Management Qualifications, e.g. Managing Successful Programs (MSP) or equivalent


  • Risk Management Qualifications, e.g. Management of Risk (MoR) or equivalent


  • More than 10 years of experience in Project Management

    o Complex projects of more than $10M budget


    o Full project lifecycle and a minimum of 3 complex projects of more than 2 years duration



  • More than 5 years of experience in Program Management

    o Medium to high complex programs of more than $5+M budget


    o Business Case Development and Measurement



  • Strategic Alignment

    o Proven knowledge of developing and implementing strategic goals



  • Line Management

    o Resource planning experience


    o Matrix team management responsibilities



  • Facilitation

    o Proven steering committee management skills



  • Workshop development and delivery experience


  • PMP or Member of Project Management Institute/Association of Project Management


  • Advanced level of competency in report writing


  • Advanced level of competency in Microsoft Project, Project Server, and Office


  • Experience managing and evaluating direct reports


  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, project planning and project management
