Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for California Times integrated media sales in the National (West) advertising sales category. The ideal candidate should possess a record of sales success with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed goals. A strong background in digital media sales – O&O, programmatic and branded content - is essential.

Responsibilities:


  • Manages multiple national and regional accounts with a mid/large book of business.

  • Services existing relationships and seeks new opportunities to sell deeper into our portfolio of products with the goal of growing digital and non-traditional revenue.  i.e.) branded content, podcast, programmatic.

  • Prospects and develops new client/agency relationships across key categories in, but not limited to Technology and CPG.

  • Identifies customer needs through meetings (virtual or in-person) and discovery calls via agency or client direct relationship.

  • Create and develop custom sales decks, proposals, and integrated media plans based on each client’s individual needs.

  • Ability to negotiate and close multiple deals in a busy sales environment.

  • Increase revenue opportunities by evaluating media trends, shifts in consumers behavior, and monitoring competitor platforms.

  • Works collaboratively across the entire sales organization.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications:


  • 2+ years experience in digital advertising, marketing, consulting, or media sales.

  • Experience in digital advertising sales is required.

  • Experience selling multiple media platforms (print, digital, branded content, direct mail, event sponsorships).

  • Self-starter with the commitment and drive to exceed goals in a competitive business environment.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

  • A clear communicator, in person and in writing.

  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.

  • Strong computer application skills (CRM/Salesforce, Microsoft Office).

Essential Functions:


  • Proactively prospect, qualify, grow, and maintain an account list with strong face-to-face / phone-based communication and presentation skills.

  • Drive advertising revenue through direct sales (prospecting, negotiating, closing new business, and managing existing client accounts).

  • Meet and exceed monthly/quarterly quotas.

  • Identify, understand, and communicate trends within client markets and industries. Respond to clients’ requests as they arise and complete projects on time and within budget based on the client’s expectations.

  • Listen well to client needs and develop custom media programs that exceed their expectations.

  • Sell strategically and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients. Generate business plans to define strategies and tactics.

  • Must be able to work under pressure, multitask and produce high quality work in a deadline driven environment.

  • Due diligence: Make sure you are correctly submitting all orders and providing the correct information to clients as well as other departments.

  • Must be able to keep records of client correspondences with proposals and purchases. Work with internal credit department as a liaison to their client for accounting and invoicing.

  • Must be able to utilize computers, software systems and tools.

  • Must have flexibility to work irregular and/or long hours to meet project deadlines or attend client/company functions.

  • Must be able to travel locally with own reliable transportation frequently for meetings, and may be expected to socialize with clients during work hours or after hours.

  • Must have valid driver’s license.

  • Advertising account executive positions are office-based.

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for periods of up to 30 minutes.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.

  • Must be able to engage physical movement on uneven surfaces in inclement weather subject to outside environmental conditions and noise.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent a plus.
