Job Description:

**Please note: this position is located at our chemical plant in Kalama, WA**

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Provide process engineering support for plant operation and strategic initiatives including process optimization, raw material and energy efficiency tracking and utilization improvements, project support and process control support.

- Identify opportunities for improvements and make recommendations to the engineering team and upper management.

- Identify and provide justification for capital expenditures in support of process improvements.

- Perform project management activities and facilitate the implementation of capital projects in process areas.

- Manage existing programs and implement new programs to ensure that environmental, sustainability, and operational goals of the facility are achieved.

- Maintain and update Process Safety Management initiatives including procedures, process safety information, piping and instrument diagrams, and process hazard analysis.

- Provide process support (scheduling production activities, process troubleshooting, etc.) as needed for front-line production supervision. This includes the availability to perform shift work.

- Process and follow-up in a timely manner all documentation required by the company, including engineering change orders, non-conformance reports, management of change, etc.

- Apply a sound knowledge of safety and environmental concerns in all undertakings.

- Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.

- 2-4 years of experience; including co-op or internship experience, in the chemical industry, preferably in plant engineering roles.

- Strong technical and problem solving skills.

- Ability to create and drive new programs; along with experience leading professional and operational groups.

- Strong work ethic, high level of integrity and ability to work effectively under pressure.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

- Self-starter who works well independently or in a team environment.

- Demonstrated skills using verbal and written communications; computer proficient with MS Office and other applications.

- Strong desire to advance within the organization to operations supervision roles.
