Job Description
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
The BI Infrastructure Engineer has the unique opportunity to help design, develop, and maintain best in class methodology across all of Meredith's BI platforms as well do data engineering development. This includes, but not limited to creating data pipelines that collect, integrate and curate data from various sources providing valuable information assets to our business stakeholders. This position will work cross teams with individuals of development backgrounds and fortes as well as different business stakeholders across our organization.

This position will adhere to guidelines set up by Meredith security and perform regular monitoring duties in order to maintain standards and maximize ROI. Cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud will be integral in day to day duties. This individual will back up the Lead Information Architect in ownership of Meredith's data lake. In addition, this position will learn and perform support duties on our Teradata database. There may be asks to install and/or patch other software utilized by Meredith's BI team as well as perform primary, secondary or tertiary duties as a support on these tools. Finally, the BI Infrastructure Engineer performs systems analysis with a focus on internal standards, coding, testing, security, and documentation. This role assists in determining specification and develops, assists, modifies and expands new and existing programs. Assist in developing best practices for the BI Technology engineering team.

The ideal candidate for this job will be proficient in Python/SQL Developer and will work with business partners in Editorial, Advertising, Marketing, Digital, Financial and other IT teams. The candidate must have background in a RDBMS such as Snowflake, Teradata, or BigQuery. Exposure to cloud infrastructures and best practices is a must. Three years of experience with AWS is required. Experience with the Google Cloud platform is a plus. This position will provide guidance and knowledge to staff in the creation of code for data extraction, loading, view creation, analytics, business support, and visualization assistance when needed. One must be able to provide Python and SQL code, and scheduling solutions for the business. Responsible for maintenance of existing code and processes.

II. Essential Job Functions
- Develop simple to complex code to solve business needs using internal & industry best practices
- Provide technical documentation for development projects
- Participate as a team member on upgrades and patches on applications/environments.
- Assist in defining best practices
- Provide technical evaluation of new technology products/services

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
College degree in computer science or a related field such as programming, business information systems, engineering, mathematics; or equivalent training or experience.

Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a data engineer/architect.
- Minimum 5 years' experience with SQL
- Minimum 5 years' experience in data warehousing
- Minimum 3 years with development in AWS
- Minimum 3 years' experience with Python/Scala/SQL as data development and manipulation
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform/Big Query is a plus

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, business, and developers.
- Comfortable with being on multiple tasks and the ability to meet demands under pressure.
- Project and time management skills and experience are assumed.
- A willingness to work at various levels including application development, testing and implementation.
- Flexibility to work effectively with additional programmers.
