Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

WHAT DOES THIS ROLE INVOLVE?

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

- Determines the method of shipment.

- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.

- Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.

- Insert items into containers.

- Nails cover wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.

- Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.

- Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.

- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

- Routes items to departments.

- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

- Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

- Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

- Make deliveries as needed

- Assist with tool management

- Restock returned tools/inventory

- Assist with maintaining the yard and warehouse cleanliness

- Operate forklift for loading and unloading delivery trucks

- Maintain, and order warehouse plumbing, sheet metal, HVAC inventory

Secondary Duties / Responsibilities:

- Supply orders - Facilities

- Stamps or numbers forms by hand or machine

- Assist with maintaining various spreadsheets and documents

- Other duties as assigned.

- Basic understanding of building maintenance parts, and equipment to assist maintenance staff appropriately

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

- Valid CA drivers license and experience operating delivery vehicles

- Previous experience/training certification for operating a forklift

- Knowledge of plumbing, sheet metal, and HVAC material.

- Highly organized

- Veterans and Military experience a plus, but not necessary

- Clean driving record

Physical Requirements:

- Must regularly lift and /or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

- The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.

- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

You are a responsible person with the ability to multi-task. You understand that regular attendance is required, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day with one hour for lunch, to do the job effectively.
