ARA's Business Development team is seeking a results-oriented and driven NSA Business Development Director committed to excellence and continuous improvement. Our Business Development team identifies and captures business opportunities that help make Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) the success it is today.

Principle responsibilities will be to advance ARA's software and simulation technologies and capabilities with existing customers and key new customers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help us build upon our proven technical excellence by applying your management and technical expertise in the product development, leadership, and engineering role as an NSA Business Development Director within ARA's Southeast Division (SED). You will be a key player in ARA's growing business with NSA by helping us match our technical expertise with new customers.

This position involves challenging technical work, a leadership position, and autonomy in seeking new opportunities with NSA. You will lead teams of engineers and scientists through the full life cycle of support to programs by defining, developing, testing, training, and transitioning material and non-material solutions to support real-world planning operations. This position will require you to focus on translating operational needs into technical requirements with associated measures of merit and transition to end-users.

If you're interested, here's what year one is all about:

- Provide leadership in identifying and developing high-growth, new business markets consistent with ARA's long-term strategic interests at NSA.

- Identify and help build relationships with strategic customers by applying your positive reputation within the Government space and leadership at NSA.

- Utilize your strong knowledge of NSA operations, operational requirements & capability needs in supporting capability development on NSA contracts.

- As an experienced communicator, you will develop strong customer relationships to ensure the continued health and growth of our programs.

- Responsible for Customer Management at NSA including customer support, satisfaction and recruiting new hires for contract work. Your familiarity with the available hiring pool for NSA contracts will be critical to your success.

- This position supports remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic but the job location will be in and around Columbia, MD vicinity when it is safe to return to offices. A willingness to travel extensively to meet with customers is required.

If you can accomplish the above, you've got what it takes. Realistically though, you need a Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience. Equivalent professional experience (at least 18 years) will be considered for talented candidates without a degree. Experience managing defense programs, working with customers, and in a management role will be essential.

Due to the work you'll perform and interactions with the intelligence community and DoD programs you will need to have an active DoD Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance. Full Scope Polygraph is desired.
