NURSE MANAGER (RN) -PRE-OP/RECOVERY

HCA HOUSTON HEALTHCARE TOMBALL is a 350-bed offering a wide variety of services, including emergency care, labor and delivery, a level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), general surgery, orthopedics, and robotic surgery. The hospital's 150-acre campus also features The Tomball Regional Orthopedic Center, The Women's Center, Texas Sports Medicine Center, and The Heart and Vascular Center.

HCA HOUSTON HEALTHCARE TOMBALL is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

WHAT WILL YOU DO IN THE ROLE?
* Under the general supervision of the Director, the Nurse Manager assumes 24-hour responsibility for all functions of the unit.
* In collaboration with the Nurse Director and members of the Medical Staff, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the Unit by all levels of practitioners. Responsible for coordinating instrumentation and surgical supplies, and assisting in surgical suite preparation for a variety of surgical cases.
* Initiates, guides, and directs the coordination of all Unit functions.
* Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.
* Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided by the unit.
* Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Hospital Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, Department of Nursing Standards, collaborating with the Director in unusual situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
* Graduate of a Nursing Program is required. BSN is required.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:
* Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
* Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice in provision of clinical nursing in an Pre-Op or Recovery setting is required with emphasis on leadership and management experience.
*American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification is required.

* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and certification is required.

* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support Course (PLS or PCLS) and certification is required.
