Your Responsibilities

As a Supply Management Specialist for John Deere in Waterloo, IA, you will p rovide entry-level sourcing, Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), and Continuous Improvement (CI) support to include development and execution/enforcement of strategies and contracts for commodities of lower value and less complexity. You will assist with cost models, make vs. buy studies, spend analysis, invoice issue resolution, and other data analyses. You will w ork with Strategic Sourcing to address chronic supplier performance issues and/or validation of suppliers during early supplier selection process as part of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) and you willc ollaborate cross-functionally and within a commodity team to source parts, components, and services for new product programs.

In addition you will:


  • Support the negotiation of supply agreements with specific suppliers resulting in cost models, an implementation strategy, and a documented agreement, ensuring the EPDP projects meettheir overall goals for cost, quality, schedule, continuity of supply, etc.
  • Collect cost data and prepare limited supplier cost/industry analyses.
  • Participate in the implementation of resourcing activities and make versus buy decisions.
  • Work with engineers and suppliers on product specification, making recommendations to ensure a quality product at the lowest total cost and meeting cost targets; supports the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process so design changes and product improvements are implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Execute Continuous Improvement (CI) with cost reduction activities, analyzing quotations, and making supplier selection based on criteria such as quality, cost, process capability, lead time, and supplier stability.


  • Work to develop and implement cost reduction projects for EPDP programs ensuring the goals of the EPDP programs are achieved.
  • Participate in the creation of EPDP program goals and targets for cost reduction specific metrics attached to each program.
  • Drive continuous improvement in terms of performance and lowest total cost with the Supply Base utilizing the Achieving Excellence process and criteria.
  • Define, resolve, and provide permanent solutions to supplier performance issues with the assistance of other functional representatives such as quality, product engineering, etc., while managing the day-to-day supplier relationship issues, thereby assuring proper communication occurs. Expedites parts as necessary.

  • Skills in interpersonal communications, negotiations, and conflict resolution
  • Analytical experience
  • Experience with supply management processes

What Makes You Stand Out


  • 1 or more years of experience in specific areas of Supply Management such as: supplier integration, strategic supply management, supplier development, module supply management, scheduling, forecasting, logistics, etc.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, product design, specifications, and tolerances
  • Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders

Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a Supply Management discipline
