Our growing Structural Heart business is seeking an experienced R&D engineer to join our team. In this role, you join the Research and Innovation organization to help carry out the early phase development of new transcatheter valves and structural heart technologies.

A Day in the Life

  • Design, develop, analyzes, troubleshoots, and provides technical skills during the development of new products for transcatheter valves and structural heart technologies that meet patient and customer needs.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Disease States and Product Therapies offered in the Structural heart business.

  • Interface with physicians to distil their needs into product requirements and concepts (VOC.)

  • Develop test methods to conduct material, component, and finished device level testing to demonstrate achievement of design requirements.

  • Work under the general supervision of a more experienced engineer or engineering manager.

  • Understand product interfaces across implant, catheter, accessories and packaging.

  • Identify issues, conduct root cause analysis, and map out resolution when designing parts, components and sub-assemblies using engineering first principles and appropriate test evaluations.

  • Instruct technicians to ensure project milestones are completed correctly and on schedule.

  • Communicate with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels; represent work through internal conferences and collaborations across multiple business units and functions.

  • Generate and document invention disclosures to secure intellectual property on therapies, procedures, and associated devices.

    Must Have - Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience or Advanced degree with 0+ years of experience

    Nice to Have:


  • B.S. Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  • Implantable medical device product development.

  • A strong verbal and written communicator, fluent in English.

  • PC experience (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.).

  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, and fluid dynamics.

  • Previous heart valve design, testing experience and knowledge of bioprosthetic tissue pericardium.

  • Previous catheter design and testing experience.

  • Familiarity with interventional cardiology clinical procedures / practices.

  • Knowledge of statistical methods.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks.

  • Hands on experience with laboratory testing methods and fluid flow measurements.

  • Flexible and adaptable, comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
