Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

GPS Manufacturer/Distributor

As a leading worldwide provider of navigation devices and wearable technology, our focus is on developing, designing and supporting superior products. Our advanced technology promotes performance, safety and ease of use in every market we serve. That makes us an engineering and technology company with a keen focus on recruiting talent in those fields. But the same vertical integration business model that keeps all design and manufacturing processes in-house also gives us the incentive to hire top performers from different backgrounds, including operations, finance and accounting, information technology, sales, marketing and communications.

It’s all about variety when you’re a material handler. You’ll load and unload, of course, but you’ll also use a computerized system to track and locate orders and inventory. Mix it up by preparing shipping documents and handling customer orders. Our warehouse is safe and clean because we all work together to maintain our high quality standards.

We are looking for a full time Material Handler - Equipment at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. Garmin’s Material Handlers work with minimal supervision to operate material handling equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting material with accuracy, while maintaining responsibility for following departmental procedures including FIFO and LIFO policies, ESD guidelines for static sensitive materials and complying with Garmin’s Attendance Policy.  In this role, you’ll be responsible for examining, sorting, arranging, counting, storing, picking and packing items for storage and/or shipment, while ensuring accuracy of inventory, transactions and material movement and adhering to departmental procedures. Other essential functions include:

  • Pull and audit material as required for KANBAN, shop order, move order or sales order requirements

  • Issue and transact material requested through material withdrawal forms

  • Receive, transact, and sort inbound material

  • Replenishment of material into primary picking locations.

  • Ensure First in/First Out (FIFO) and Last in/First Out (LIFO) policies are adhered to as defined in departmental procedures

  • Follow Electronic Static Discharge (ESD) guidelines for static sensitive materials

  • Pack materials to ensure adequately delivery to internal and external customers

  • Must possess the ability to operate equipment that is design rated for operators 300 pounds or less

Due to the amount of resources and expense exhausted in training for this position, a minimum of one year from the start of this position will be required before an associate is eligible for a job transfer.

The ability to safely and efficiently operate at least three pieces of motorized material handling equipment such as a turret truck, reach truck, cherry pickers, counter balance and pallet walkies and compliance with procedures and guidelines for reporting safety incidents is a key to this role.

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a High School Diploma or GED. Other requirements include:

  • Must possess a minimum of 1 year previous equipment related experience

  • Must possess experience and proficiency using computers

  • Requires the ability to lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment

  • Requires the ability to operate equipment that is design rated for operators 300 pounds or less

Candidates with an excellent safe operating record are preferred.  Previous equipment certification and/or database experience are highly preferred!

Our benefits are designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life. They allow our associates to make their own decisions about their wellbeing and future and consistently rank Garmin as a top tier benefits provider when compared to other high-tech employers.
