Milliken's SiVance Plant is a world-class business leader in silicone chemistry, focused on the development and manufacture of specialty silicone technologies at this fully-integrated production facility established in 1953 in Gainesville, Florida.The 65-acre site contains Research & Development laboratories, analytical capabilities for chemical analysis and route development, and production facilities ranging from lab scale, to pilot and commercial scale, allowing SiVance to move innovations through the development pipeline in relatively short order.At the SiVance plant, more than 130 associates produce hundreds of silicon-based products considered vital to the performance and value of industrial and consumer products manufactured around the world.

CONTROLS EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY:
To be responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of complicated chemical process equipment, support system controls and plant electrical systems in a team setting or on an individual basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Correctly read and understand P&IDs (symbols, tags, and instrument lines), wiring diagrams, and instrument loop drawings.
- Demonstrate understanding of hazardous area electrical classifications and equipment requirements.
- Demonstrate proper specification and application knowledge for intrinsic safety and explosion proof classifications.
- Understand and troubleshoot motor problems (direct drive and VFD) including specification and selection of any required replacement parts.
- Repair ROV valves and actuators.
- Repair, bench set, test and calibrate Control valve of various styles.
- Understand & explain basic principles flow, temperature, and pressure measurement and the devices used for their measurement.
- Specify and recommend instruments for various services with Engineering assistance.
- Troubleshoot and return to proper functionality SMART transmitters, including the use of a HART communicator.
- Demonstrate proficiency in calibration of all types of field instruments.
- Understand basic control logic (input, output, relationship, set point, PID, feedback, etc.)
- Troubleshoot Instrument loops.
- Configure basic single loop controllers.
- Calibrate and document single loop controllers.
- Understand and demonstrate use of cascade and split-range control logic.
- Understanding of single vs. three phase power.
- Properly size and install circuit breakers (110, 240).
- Understand electrical wiring conventions.
- Wire and terminate AC devices.
- SAFETY - Adhere to all plant safety policies and compliance regulations. Actively participate in the safety process through completing of safety audits, participating in safety projects, identifying Site Hazards and contributing to safety improvements, and being an attending member of a safety team. Complete quarterly and annual safety training as required.

- Enforce safety rules and continuously improve housekeeping.
- Promote safety as a core behavior and lead by example.
- Encourage team member's participation in safety processes.
- QUALITY - Become familiar with, understand and comply with Milliken Quality Policy, Standard Operating Procedure(s) (SOPs) as assigned, relevant ISO 9000 standards and Company Policies that are applicable to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:

- High school graduate or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as an industrial instrumentation technician or in lieu of experience possess equivalent certification training/education in instrumentation/electronics program.
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to read and interpret control loops, wiring schematics and blueprints.
- Possess a valid Florida driver's license.
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb long vertical ladders, move heavy equipment and have the ability to move about freely in cramped quarters.
- Physically able to wear a full-face respirator when required by job conditions.
- Willingness to be on-call as needed to support Plant Operations team.
