We are currently seeking a Mac/Linux Desktop Support Engineer to join our team in Mountain View, California (US-CA), United States (US).

Responsibilities:
-Support scientists, researchers and engineers /resolve issues on phone, email, walk-ins and using remote tools. Desk side support as required at various locations on the center
-Installation of systems, software and hardware components, not limited to memory, hard drives, printers, etc
-Resolve hardware components issues not limited to: hard drive, memory, logic board, cards, monitors and other items, identifying failures, providing solutions
-Manage Virtualization, Git, list, license and other small servers.
-Develop, push, troubleshoot and report on patch levels using provided tools such as Jamf, BigFix and Apple Remote Desktop or other patching tools. Verify backups.
-Participate in annual security audits. Implement Agency/Center mandates. Configure systems per appropriate security plans.
-Monitor system integrity, protection levels, and security related events, ensure that security controls are properly implemented
-Participate in Agency/Center policy and tools configuration reviews

Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience
-6-8 years of desktop support experience
-Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance

Physical Requirements:
-Ability to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment including a computer and keyboard; vision to read printed materials, correspondence and a computer screen;
-Position may involve frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and lifting (may range from 10-50lbs on a regular basis)

Desired Skills:
-Extensive knowledge of Mac Desktop (GUI and command line)
-Experience with Linux Operating systems
-Mac BSD or Linux open source applications
-Proficient with setting up and troubleshooting with remote protocols such as ssh, rdp, vnc
-Experience with PKI and/or encryption, virtual systems, RAID
-Experience with Shell scripting (bash, csh, tcsh, etc)
-Experience with patch management and monitoring tools and methodologies
-Strong Documentation skills
-Excellent customer service skills and troubleshooting skills
-Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
-Candidate must be highly motivated, flexible, self-directed and able to manage multiple tasks.
-Able to work in a team environment as well as working independently in a dynamic environment is required
-Experience with Python (virtual environments, conda, pip, etc)
-Knowledge of IDL, MatLab, ENVI, Solidworks, and other Scientific/Engineering applications
-Familiarity with Git, Virtualization (Proxmox, ESXi, etc)
-Familiarity with USGCB, CIS, NIST, FISMA or other standards and benchmarking
-Experience with SMB Enterprise backup applications and solutions such as Retrospect and Time Machine
-Understand and recommend software and hardware lifecycle for customer upgrade needs
-Experience supporting in a Science, Research, Engineering, Education, or Government environment
